Structure Your Day
By Ilona Albert on Jan 21, 2008 in Home Business
Help to structure your home business day with a prioritized, to do list and a schedule of activities. On the schedule always place the routine tasks that have to be done to keep the business running smoothly in the first hour of the morning. In that way they will always get done and not be lost in the big project that runs away with time or in the later distractions. Once your first scheduled task is over, revisit your “to do” list and review the priorities. Take the tasks with the highest priorities and set them into your schedule for the day. In this way your schedule remains dynamic, and the items on the to do list receive your daily consideration.

I agree that a prioritised list is THE most important document for home businesses. Don’t let your email inbox be that list!
An email inbox is the priority list of people outside your business. Work out what your business needs first and do those things first. Don’t fall into the trap of using your email inbox to tell you what to tackle first. The inbox won’t have all the important tasks that you need to complete for your business sucess and so many important tasks may get overlooked if you rely too much on the requests of other people to do their bidding.
