1. Be Specific.
If your instructions are clear and unambiguous you have a good chance that they will be carried out correctly.
2. Be Fair
If you praise or punish, make sure your appreciation or lack of it is understood and that you are consistent in your approach to all staff.
3. Be Public.
Corridor politics and secret societies will de-motivate associates and give rise to rebellion rather than spur people on. Be public and your associates will work better, knowing where they stand.
